Privacy Notice

I am Caleb, writing Scribe Bloom at scribebloom.pro. This notice explains, in plain language, what happens to information when you visit my personal blog and if you choose to email me. I am not a company — there is no business registration here, no corporate entity behind the footer — just me, an individual with a mailbox and a hosting account.

What this site does not collect. There is no contact page with fields, no newsletter sign-up, no comment box, no account login, no shop checkout, no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no social tracker, no fingerprinting, no profiling, and no automated decision-making. Because the contact machinery was removed on purpose, the site itself never receives your name, email address, or message content through a page submission — those things can only reach me if you voluntarily send an email or call the number listed on the mailbox page. I do not buy lists, do not scrape visitors, and do not sync this site to any customer-relationship tool because none exists.

The only data stored on your device by me. I use exactly two cookies, set by JavaScript in /js/main.js, explained fully on cookies.php. The strictly necessary cookie sb_consent remembers whether you accepted, rejected, or customised cookie choices; its value looks like v1|p=0|1|e=0|1|d=YYYY-MM-DD and lasts about 180 days with path=/ and SameSite=Lax. The preferences cookie sb_reading stores your reading-size choice (size=1, 2, or 3) only if you allow reading preferences; it also lasts 180 days and is deleted if you turn preferences off or reject all. No other cookies are set by my code. I do not use local storage for anything except as a fallback if cookies cannot be written in unusual browsing modes.

Server logs. My hosting provider keeps standard web server logs — IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, timestamp — for security and troubleshooting. I do not combine those logs with cookie values, do not sell them, and do not use them to profile visitors. They rotate on the provider's schedule. I access them only if something breaks and I need to see whether a file failed to load.

Google Maps on every page. Each content page embeds a neighbourhood map centred on Clementi Avenue 2 at zoom 14–15, not on my exact unit. When the map loads, Google may receive your IP address, browser information, and the page URL, and may set its own cookies under Google's policy, which I do not control. The map is content you see because you opened a page about my neighbourhood writing; it is not a tracker I added for marketing. You can switch embedded maps off in the cookie banner; a placeholder appears with a button to show the map for the current visit only without storing that choice. See cookies.php for controls. If maps are off, the placeholder still names the neighbourhood and shows the postal address listed in my footer — the same address printed on the mailbox page.

Email you send voluntarily. If you email [email protected], I receive your address, subject, and message body in my mailbox. I read replies personally, keep them only as long as needed to respond or remember context, and never add you to a marketing list because no such list exists. I do not forward your messages to third parties except my email provider, which stores mail so I can read it. Do not send sensitive identity or financial information; email is not a secure channel. If you ask me to delete a message, I will, unless I am still composing a reply I promised.

Telephone calls. If you call +65 6526 4318, standard telephone networks may log your number and the time of the call. I do not record calls and do not transcribe them. I treat unexpected voicemails like email — listen, reply if appropriate, do not archive forever.

Links to other sites. This blog does not embed social networks or external comment widgets. The only third-party content loaded in pages is Google Maps, described above. If you follow a link I write in prose, you leave my site and the other site's policy applies.

PDPA rights. Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you may request access to personal data I hold about you, ask for corrections, or withdraw consent where consent applies. For this site, that mainly means email correspondence you sent. Contact me at [email protected] or +65 6526 4318 and I will respond within a reasonable time, usually within a few weeks depending on volume — which is low, because this is a quiet personal blog.

Security. I keep the site simple partly because simplicity is easier to look after: static pages, no database of visitors, no login table to leak. My hosting account uses a strong password and updates when the provider prompts. No system is perfect; if I learn of a breach affecting visitor data, I will post a plain notice here and email anyone who contacted me recently if relevant.

Children. This blog is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children through the site. The writing assumes an adult reader walking neighbourhoods like Clementi and West Coast Park.

International visitors. The site is hosted and written from Singapore. If you read from elsewhere, your browser still sends technical data to my host and to Google when maps load, as described. I do not tailor tracking by country because I do not track.

Contact for privacy questions. Write to [email protected] with the word privacy in the subject if anything here is unclear; I answer as myself, not through a legal department or ticket queue.

Changes. Last updated 2026-08-08. If I change this notice, I will adjust the date and keep the spirit: minimal data, no tracking, honest maps disclosure, no contact form, no newsletter. Material changes will be summarised at the top in plain language the next time I edit this page.

This is a personal blog. Everything on it is written by me and reflects my own experiences, opinions, memories and impressions at the time of writing. Notes are personal reflections and are not professional, medical, legal, financial, fitness or news reporting advice. Where a note touches on a serious event nearby, I only describe what I heard or saw from my end of the street — never as reporting, never with details I do not have.
